Starting around 2012, several Murphysboro-area artists began holding trunk shows, or small, informal art sales in non-retail locations. In the spring of 2016, the group held the first-ever Oak Street Art Fair with a dozen artists exhibiting, plus live music, kids activities, and demonstrations. This tradition continues to this day.
