TBA - Colonial Trade Faire & Musket Frolic

This Trade Faire at Fort De Chartres State Historic Site features costumed historic interpreters, shooting matches, and period games is a juried living history event. Craftspeople and merchants will sell reproduction period goods. Stroll down the main street and surrounding area and visit merchants and blanket traders selling their wares. Check out the shooting competition, run by members of the American Long Rifle Association. Watch the stickball game inside the fort walls on Saturday afternoon. Visit the bread oven and see what's cooking in the camp kitchen.

The Colonial Trade Faire re-enacts the lives and skills of longhunters of the Illinois country and Spanish Louisiana from the middle 1760s to the middle 1770s. These professional hide hunters would routinely embark on grand hunts lasting months and sometimes more than a year. Les Amis du Fort de Chartres sponsors this event, with additional support from Illinois Historic Preservation, part of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The public is invited to watch the events free of charge and shop at the Trade Faire.
