The day before Ash Wednesday activity at the church hall starts with a family style dinner of pancakes, sausage, applesauce and doughnuts from 5 to 8 pm and is accompanied by live entertainers providing German music. In keeping with German tradition, children will dress in costume and go “grebbling” door to door to collect dough-nuts, then come back to win votes in a costume contest.
