This Trade Faire at Fort De Chartres State Historic Site, which features costumed historic interpreters, shooting matches, and period games is a juried living history event. Craftspeople and merchants will sell reproduction period goods. The Colonial Trade Faire is hosted by the Kaskaskia Company, a group that re-enacts the lives and skills of longhunters of the Illinois country and Spanish Louisiana from the middle 1760s to the middle 1770s. These professional hide hunters who would routinely embark on grand hunts lasting months and sometimes more than a year . Les Amis du Fort de Chartres will sponsor this event, with additional support from Illinois Historic Preservation, part of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The public is invited to watch the events free of charge and shop at the Trade Faire.
