There are a small number of wineries scattered throughout the southeastern Iowa and western Illinois region.

Camping
For outdoor enthusiasts who want to spend a night or two under the stars, the Tri-State region offers plenty of options. There are 4 state parks - Battle of Athens State Historic Site, Nauvoo State Park, Siloam Springs State Park, and Wakonds State Park – that offer both electric and basic camping option. Siloam Springs also has facilities for horses. In addition to the state parks campers can stay at Lake Pittsfield or a number of private campgrounds.

Bald Eagles
There are approximately 2,000 eagles that migrate to the Middle Mississippi River Valley, making the region's overwintering population the second largest in the continental United States. Lock and Dam #19 in Keokuk is an excellent location to see Bald Eagles during the winter.

Bird Watching
The Tri-State region offers birders some excellent locations of where to see a variety of species that take advantage of the Mississippi River Flyway. Siloam Springs State Park and Wakonda State Park offer excellent conditions for a good bird watching outing. Lock and Dam #19 in Keokuk is an excellent location to see Bald Eagles during the winter.
